When we made our first batch of surf wax in San Diego in 2002, we had no idea how far it would go. What started as a humble experiment to create the perfect formula has grown into a worldwide favorite, used by pros and regular surfers alike.

The Birth of Famous Surf Wax

Back in the early 2000s, the surf world was searching for a wax that could handle the heat—literally. California's summers can get intense, but nowhere near all the tropical surf destinations that require something that won't melt under the sun or lose its grip when the waves are firing. After countless trials and errors (and probably a few wax-covered boards), we nailed the perfect formulas for four temperatures, along with the perfect basecoat.

Now for the big news. We’ve always taken pride in the little things—like how our wax comes wrapped in paper labels. Sure, it looked great, was very accessible, and it showcased the wax well, but it wasn’t the most practical when you were trying to keep your wax organized or avoid making a mess in your bag. So, after some thoughtful tweaks, we leveled up: now, every bar of Famous Surf Wax comes individually boxed. This not only keeps your wax cleaner but also keeps things organized. No more sticky paper to deal with when you leave it in the sun.

Private Label Wax

It’s not just about us. Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to work with big brands in and out of the surf world, providing private label wax for companies like Celsius, Volcom, Neff, Rip Curl, and many more. Helping other iconic brands get their own custom surf wax into the hands of surfers worldwide has been one of the coolest parts of the journey.
